Lahore: The Punjab government has decided to allot the state-owned land in the Cholistan to 20,000 farmers for temporary cultivation for five years, according to news published in the leading newspaper on September 17.

The decision was taken in a meeting chaired by Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Parvez Elahi. During the meeting, the CM stated that the land will be allotted in phases. Under the first phase, the draw for the allotment of land is said to be conducted by the Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB). In the second phase, more farmers will be allocated land.

Moreover, CM Elahi mentioned that the government will resolve the problems of the Cholistan farmers as a top priority. The government hopes this initiative will promote the agricultural economy in the region.
