Lahore: In a meeting with Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) officials, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif approved the expansion plan of Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore, states news sources. Sharif also approved a grant of PKR 60 billion for the project.
According to details, the CAA officials briefed the PM on the expansion plan of the Lahore airport on Friday August 2. The new plan, which incorporates a blend of Spanish and Mughal architecture, will facilitate 31 airplanes instead of seven and also includes construction of two parking levels in the basement and one on the ground floor, stretching parking space to accommodate 4,500 cars and 2,000 motorbikes.
Reportedly, Typsa, a Spanish engineering firm, and Asian Consulting Engineers, a Pakistani company, will collaborate for the expansion of Allama Iqbal International Airport. Per the details, the PM has instructed the department concerned to complete the project by March 2018.
