Islamabad: The Allama Iqbal Industrial City – a special economic zone (SEZ) in Faisalabad – has started operations with an investment of PKR 53.6 billion, according to a news source published on March 8. Located adjacent to the M3-Industrial City, the economic zone is the largest in Pakistan with an area of 3,217 acres.

Reportedly, Allama Iqbal Industrial City is the second operational SEZ launched under the China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The Board of Investment (BOI) revealed that this project will attract national and international investors with its world-class business facilities.

A meeting of the economic zone’s committee was also held here that approved 15 applicants and allotted 320 acres of land. As per the details shared, the applicants also include a Chinese Agricultural firm that plans to invest PKR 800 million in the farming sector. Other local 14 local firms are also set to initiate business establishment worth billion in the SEZ.
