Bahawalpur: The water treatment plants in Bahawalpur and adjoining areas towards Cholistan have stopped working, according to a news report. The locals have blamed the Cholistan Development Authority (CDA) for this.
The locals of these areas have no option but to drink contaminated water, which causes various diseases, especially among young children. The government had previously installed various water treatment plants, all of which have stopped working and the water supply pipelines have also been damaged. As a result of this, the locals of the area have now migrated to other areas.
The Cholistan Development Authority’s Muhammad Aashiq Langah has said that the treatments plants were incurring high costs because of which they’ve been shut down. He has also added that parts of the treatment plants have also been stolen because of which only one engine is working instead of two in many cases.
