Lahore: The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) on Tuesday announced its decision to install disinfectant tunnels at all airport facilities across the country in a bid to check the spread of the coronavirus among inbound travellers, a news source reported.

It further stated that the managements concerned would establish the disinfectant tunnels at the entrances and departure lounges of all airport buildings in the country. It added that each inbound and outbound passenger would pass through these gates.
Moreover, the CAA has directed airport managers to provide the required number of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) and disinfecting gates according to the number of installation points at the airports.

Flight operations in Pakistan are on suspension since over a month. However, following the direction of Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan, the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) had initiated special flights to bring back Pakistanis stranded abroad. The installation of the disinfectant tunnels would ensure the safety of these individuals.
