Karachi: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah on Tuesday approved the revised alignment proposal for the Malir Expressway project submitted by the local government department, according to news sources.

During the Public-Private Partnership Board’s 36th meeting, the local government department suggested a few changes to the Malir Expressway in Memon Goth and Gadap areas. The chief minister was briefed on the changes that were aimed at enhancing the engineering design and hydrology of the project.

It was also highlighted that the said changes in the infrastructure’s alignment will reduce the land acquisition requirement from 148 acres to 10.3 acres, which will save PKR 3 billion. Moreover, with the proposed change, the government will be able to preserve 204 houses that were supposed to be demolished as per the old plan.
