Karachi: The Aqeel Kareem Dhedhi (AKD) group on Monday (October 5) pledged to construct a five-star hotel near National Stadium in Karachi, news sources reported.

AKD Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Aqeel Kareem Dhedhi announced this news in his meeting with the Chairman of Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Rameez Raja, where Karachi’s business community discussed the business prospects of the cricket economy in the country. CEO Dhedhi stated that his company will be able to invest up to USD 8 million on its own to build a five-star hotel with 200 rooms for the accommodation of foreign and national teams. Both parties addressed cooperative methods to boost the cricket economy as well as measures to help boost local business and cricket talent.

In addition, the meeting reviewed the plan to reinstate cricket clubs, as well as measures to improve school and U-19 level cricket to attract more talent in Pakistani cricket. In addition to this, the meeting discussed enhancing the cricket tournaments in the country. A proposal was also made to use cricket stadiums for other purposes in order to earn revenue and project a positive image of the country.
