Lahore: The construction work has recommenced on the Akbar Chowk Flyover and Remodelling project, which is a step forward to making Maulana Shaukat Ali Road a partial signal-free corridor, a news source reported on May 19.

As per the details, there was a delay of nearly two and a half months and now the work has resumed. The revised design will increase the project cost from PKR 3.1 billion to PKR 5.035 billion. It was disclosed that the inclusion of three protected U-turns and the construction of flyovers on both sides of Akbar Chowk has increased the cost.
Reportedly, the U-turns will be constructed after passing Shoq Chowk and will be extended to Pindi Stop after crossing the Model Town Link Road intersection. The project is expected to be completed by September.

The news source mentioned that the said project will improve traffic flow at the intersection, decrease environmental issues, provide hassle-free driving for commuters travelling between Kot Lakhpat and Main Canal Road, and save their time and energy.
