Mirpur: Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister (PM) Raja Farooq Haider Khan on Tuesday said that the region would follow a special lockdown policy during the last 10 days of Ramzan, a news source reported. He shared this information while presiding a high-level meeting in Kotli, Mirpur.

Due to the current COVID-19 situation in the country, the last 10 days of Ramzan could very crucial in terms of maintaining social distance at public places and markets, said the AJK PM. In order to keep the situation in control, special SOPs are being formulated underway, which will be announced soon, he added.
The AJK PM said that the ban on transportation will remain intact and the government will also be strictly monitoring the entry and exit points in AJK.

He also mentioned that the AJK government will not allow public gatherings at shops, markets and offices during this period. Similarly, a jointly formed and effective strategy will be enforced to deal with the situation on Eid-ul-Fitr.
Taking about the relief measures in place, he said that the AJK government will provide compensation to the conductors and drivers. List of other people affected by the lockdown imposed to stop transmission of COVID-19 is in the making, he added.
