Mirpur: Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Minister (PM) Raja Muhammad Farooq Haider Khan on Thursday commenced the construction of a mini dam and flow metering system, placing the foundation stone to kick-start the project which is valued at over PKR 862 million.

Mr Haider Khan spoke to the media at the ceremony, assuring that the government has attached the highest level of priority to the construction of the mini dam which is to be completed within two years of the stipulated time period. He also stated that due to Neelum Jhelum project, the city saw a rise in temperature and a shortage in water supply.

The AJK prime minister said that the construction project will aid in reducing the scarcity of water in the city and for that reason, the aforementioned project will be completed well within time and with the highest standard. Further, in addition to improving water supply, the premier stated that the dam project would lead to a boost in tourism as well.
