Muzaffarabad: The Azad Jammu & Kashmir (AJK) cabinet on Wednesday announced its decision to ease lockdown restrictions for businesses and public transport in the region, a news source reported. It further appreciated the steps taken against the COVID-19 pandemic spread in AJK.

During the cabinet meeting, officials stated that the AJK government spent PKR 470 million from its normal and development budget in the ongoing fight against the virus. They added that these funds were spent on setting up isolation wards in all 10 district of the region.
AJK Prime Minister (PM) Raja Farooq Haider Khan stated that the government was introducing home quarantine policy. He added that under this policy, individuals who voluntarily request for staying at home would have permission to do so.

Haider said that the public transport would resume under implementation of standard operating procedures (SOPs). He added that those violating the SOPs would have to pay heavy fines.
