Lahore: The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) will review Lahore’s first tunnel-boring sewerage project in its next meeting – for approval of loans worth PKR 14.16 billion, a news source reported on July 20. The project has been included in the bank’s next meeting agenda.

According to details, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) has prepared a project to lay the sewerage tunnel between Larex Colony and Gulshan-e-Ravi as the project has also been approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC). Major funding for the project is going to come from the AIIB which has placed it on the agenda for its next meeting to be held in September this year.

Moreover, the project will lay a 28-kilometre line between the Larex Colony and Gulshan-e-Ravi and will be completed within 30 months. The project will be the first of its kind in the country where sewerage lines will be laid without damaging the roads.
