Lahore: The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) has expressed its intent to fund the National Transmission and Despatch Company Limited (NTDC) projects in the city, according to news sources.

During a meeting of the AIIB delegation and the NTDC management, the former expressed its desire to develop the 235-kilometre-long 500-kilovolt (KV) double transmission line – expected to be laid between 500 KV North Lahore grid station, Maira Switching Station (Kallar Syedan), as well as the 20-kilometre-long 500 KV double circuit transmission line from Maira Switching Station to Karot HPP.
In response, the NTDC officials briefed the AIIB delegation about the current development status of these projects. To this effect, the Power System Planning department enlisted NTDC future projects for AIIB delegation’s consideration.

Director General Investment Operation Region Supee Teravaninthorn said that the AIIB was supporting project financing and policy reforms in the key industrial sectors like road infrastructures, social reforms, energy, water, irrigation and urban development.
She further conveyed AIIB’s resolve to strengthen and expand its partnership scope with Pakistan.
