Islamabad: On 25th January, 2018, Minister for Interior and Planning, Ahsan Iqbal shed light on various road projects and Karachi Circular Railway (KCR), also stating that Pakistan and China had agreed to clear technical issues worth $8.2 billion Main Railway Line (ML-1), according to a news source.
Ahsan Iqbal also added that a more than 600km long road from Gwadar-Quetta is 95% complete and is already being used. He termed this as a breakthrough for Balochistan.
Furthermore, he said that the government is planning to arrange road shows in some of these cities to highlight the role of Special Economic Zones in a bid to attract even greater number of Chinese investment, by making people aware of the special incentives, low cost production, logistic facilities and opportunities that are being offered by the government.
While commenting on China’s provisions for expanding their investment portfolio, the Federal Minister said that the Chinese government was working through internal approval processes so that more funds are available and there aren’t any project delays.
He ended by saying that Gwadar was rapidly changing and would be hosting the first ever international investor conference on January 29th-30th to present Pakistan as an ideal place for international investment.
