Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has taken notice of the wrongful use of land located in Zone IV, allotted for agro farms, stated a news report. CDA Chairman Ishrat Ali chaired a meeting to approve a planning wing summary for planning parameters, terms and conditions of allotment and lease agreements and monitoring systems for farmhouses.
During the 80s, CDA allowed 2,250 sq. ft. covered farm houses, which was increased to 4,859 sq. ft in 2003, 10,000 sq. ft. in 2004, and 9,500 sq. ft. a few months ago. In the statement issued, the CDA has expressed its displeasure over the land allocated for agro farms being used for luxurious residences and commercial operations.
The Supreme Court directed the CDA to finalise bylaws allowing the maximum covered area to be 9,500 sq. ft. and ensuring that the land for agro farms is used for the purpose of its allotment. The CDA has issued a summary for the plots in these schemes to be divided into three categories on the basis of allotment: allotment to the general public ((269 plots), to affected people (172 plots) and through auction (63). The CDA has also decided that trading of these farms will not be permitted by the authority as these are non-transferable.
