The CPEC Phase-II is termed to be turning into a ‘Green Corridor’ for galvanizing shared development opportunities in the agriculture sector. It was reported that the second meeting of the Joint Working Group (JWG) on Agriculture was hosted online recently, where further opportunities to strengthen field cooperation were discussed.

Both China and Pakistan have acceded to implementating the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation – for dealing with pest and disease control including locust, plant diseases and other insect prevention. Additionally, the CPEC Phase–II includes a plan to introduce and promote water management techniques, improve agricultural yield, improve storage and transport of produce in pre and post-harvest period, and to formulate innovative marketing and sales techniques.
