Rawalpindi: The Agriculture Department Punjab has decided to subsidise solar panels by 80% to promote drip and sprinkler irrigation agriculture, a news source reported. Tunnel installation to promote tunnel farming will also be subsidised by 50%.
Drip and sprinkler irrigation systems can significantly reduce the amount of water usage for agriculture and these methods are being used for agriculture in developed countries. Speaking on the matter, the representative of the Agriculture Department stated that the water table is getting low in almost all countries the world including Pakistan and it is imperative that Pakistan’s agriculture be brought in line with modern technology.
