Islamabad: Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts has signed an agreement with Smart Properties to establish a hotel in Capital Smart City (ICSC) – a news source reported.
The project, named Mövenpick Hotel & Residences, is expected to open in 2023. It will feature 250 hotel rooms and 150 service apartments. Other planned facilities include dining and meeting venues, a fitness centre, and two swimming pools.
Andrew Langdon, Global Chief Development Officer of Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, termed the project a strategic move. He said that the international chain is eyeing Pakistan’s hotel sector, which largely remains an untapped market.

He said that the project will cater to both local and international investors. He added that the Capital Smart City will emerge as a hub of modern commercial activities.
Widely hailed as the first smart city of its kind, ICSC will feature residential, retail, commercial, entertainment, and hospitality components. The Capital Smart City is several minutes away from the Islamabad International Airport.
Luis Fernandez-Reyes, Chief Development Officer of Smart Properties, said that the city project is destined to be Pakistan’s next economic powerhouse. He added that Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts have a strong market reputation.
