Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister (CM) Mahmood Khan on Tuesday (August 17) announced a special package worth PKR 4.5 billion for the affectees of the Mohmand Dam project, news sources reported. The budget will be used for various road construction, education and public welfare projects and is expected to benefit 150,000 people.

KP CM Mahmood presided over a high-level meeting in this regard, which was attended by Peshawar Corps Commander Lt General Nauman Mehmood, Additional Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah, Principal Secretary to the CM Amjad Ali Khan, and administrative secretaries. According to the details, the meeting agreed to launch the following development projects in the Mohamad district and surrounding regions:
- PKR 700 million is allocated for the rehabilitation and widening of Tehsil Prang Ghar’s 30-kilometre-long road
- PKR 75 million is allocated for the 6-kilometre long road in Tehsil Pindiali of the Mohmand district.
- The education sector will receive PKR 236 million
- The health sector would receive PKR 135 million Also, sports-related initiatives of PKR 60 million has been proposed for the districts.
- A 132kV grid station would be built in the region at a cost of PKR 700 million

According to the plan, Mohmand district will receive 86% of the overall development package, whereas Bajur district will receive 8%, Malakand district will receive 3%, and Charsadda district will receive 3%. The minister also directed the formation of a special Steering committee for the timely completion of the development project launched under this initiative.
