Lahore: The French Development Agency (AFD) is willing to fund the construction of a wastewater treatment plant at Babu Sabu – a news source reported.

A meeting to this effect took place between an AFD delegation and Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) Managing Director Syed Zahid Aziz, who briefed the officials on various projects.
He said that WASA plans to install six wastewater plants and one surface water treatment plant in Lahore. He added that the latter would be established on Ravi Siphon point.
In the first phase, at least 100 to 150 cusecs of water will be filtered to ensure the supply of clean drinking water to citizens. Reportedly, this project also aims to cater to the growing demand of water in the city. Moreover, the underground water table will be regulated, and marine life saved from further destruction.

In response, the AFD delegation lauded WASA’s initiatives and pledged to fund the construction of the Babu Sabu filtration plant.
