The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) had approved of the power tariffs for these projects over a year ago, and now the decision has been made to expedite the work being conducted on their development. NEPRA set these tariffs at between 4.7 and 4.8 cents per unit, which translated to PKR 5.60 to PKR 5.80, as per the exchange rates at the time. These tariff documents were forwarded to the Ministry of Energy, the supervisory body of the AEDB, for further processing of the projects, and the regulatory body’s financial close is expected to take place by November 19.
