Lahore: In a session held at Town Hall – under the chair of Administrator Metropolitan Corporation & Deputy Commissioner Umer Sher Chattha – it was announced that road cuts in Lahore are henceforth banned, according to a news report on January 5.

As per the details of the decision, the development departments including the Lahore Development Authority, Lahore Electric Supply Company (LESCO), Traffic Engineering & Transport Planning Agency (TEPA), Parks & Horticulture Authority (PHA) and Pakistan Telecommunication Company Ltd (PTCL) will be required to procure the permission of the administrator for cutting roads.

The city administrator has banned private entities from the cutting of the state-owned road infrastructure and warned of legal action against the violations. It was also highlighted that fines will also be imposed on non-compliers. The meeting also stressed the early completion of the development schemes and clarified that negligence in the installation of street lights and patchwork will not be tolerated.
