Islamabad: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the Water and Power Development Authority (WAPDA) have engaged in discussions regarding financial assistance for water and hydropower projects, as claimed by a news source on March 13.

Led by Country Director Yong Ye, a 13-member ADB delegation met with WAPDA Chairman Engr Lt Gen Sajjad Ghani (retd) to explore avenues for financial support. The meeting focused on financing arrangements for key WAPDA projects, including the Kurram Tangi Dam Stage-II, Naulong Dam, and the Pattan Hydropower Project. Officials from both organisations participated, discussing WAPDA’s development portfolio aligned with sustainable economic growth goals, including the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Updates on various projects such as the Mohmand Dam, Diamer Basha Dam, Dasu Hydropower Project, and Atta Abad Lake Hydropower Project were also presented. Chairman WAPDA expressed gratitude for ADB’s support and optimism for continued collaboration and financial backing for WAPDA’s projects.
