Islamabad: Asian Development Bank (ADB) Vice President (VP) Shixin Chen on Wednesday praised Pakistan’s smart lockdown strategy for striking the ideal balance between the citizen’s lives and livelihood — a news source reported.

Chen made these comments while speaking with Advisor to the Prime Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Shaikh. The ADB VP further praised the socioeconomic support extended to the vulnerable sections of society and also reiterated the international bank’s commitment to continue its support for Pakistan in the future.
The Advisor to the PM, in turn, thanked the ADB for its support in the fight against the coronavirus pandemic. He also acknowledged the bank’s commitment in bringing about essential reforms in the country’s energy, transport, water, urban services and social sectors.

Dr Shaikh additionally shared an overview of the country’s economic situation and highlighted the various measures taken by the government in this regard. He also noted that the government had had to slightly divert its economic direction following the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.
