Islamabad: The federal government is planning to ask the Asian Development Bank (ADB) to play an advisory role for its development and planning projects, according to a news source. This includes the projects geared towards reforms, as well as those based on public-private partnership arrangements.
In this role, the ADB and government will formulate project strategies, procurement, and funding. For this purpose, the government will sign a transaction advisory service (TAS) contract with the ADB on an international level. The finance ministry’s ADB section has already prepared a draft of this TAS and forwarded it to the relevant authorities, including the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).
The aim of this agreement is to create a high-level legal framework through which the government can benefit from the ADB’s expertise and advice. It was clarified in the agreement that the terms and conditions of each project will be on a case-to-case basis.
