Peshawar: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has expressed its interest in helping develop the Peshawar Master Plan and its feasibility report, as well as providing financial assistance for the construction of the Peshawar Ring Road project, a news source reported.

In this regard, ADB Country Director Xianhong Yang held a meeting with Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Minister for Local Government Shahram Khan Tarakai in his office. Important officials from local government bodies and the Urban Planning Unit attended this meeting.
Yang and Tarakai discussed various matters, including projects undertaken by the local government, and land-use plans for Peshawar and various other divisional headquarters of KP. They also discussed matters regarding the provision of funds for these projects, along with the smart cities project and structural design changes planned by Water & Sanitation Services Peshawar.

The ADB is also interested in development projects meant exclusively for the newly merged ex-FATA districts and will consider funding them. Reportedly, the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is also seeking aid from various donor agencies to promote infrastructural development in these districts.
In addition, talks are also underway to set up streetlights and construct footpaths in various cities of KP.
