Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister (CM) Shahbaz Sharif has said that $1.5 billion should be provided by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for health, education and other sectors, according to a news source. The report quoted him as saying that that government would appreciate the financial support of ADB during the next five years. He said this when he was called on by a five-member delegation headed by ADB Country Director Xiaohong Yang.
CM Shahbaz Sharif was quoted as saying that the Thal Canal and Greater Cholistan Canal Projects will be completed with ADB funding. ADB is providing $500 million for energy and irrigation project in Punjab already. Projects that had been launched in collaboration with ADB were also reviewed in the meeting.
