Islamabad: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has redesignated Pakistan as a ‘family station’ for its international staff, a news source reported.

The regional development institution made the decision to abolish the previously assigned non-family duty station status after conducting an assessment of the country’s security situation in June this year.
As per reports, the foreign officials stationed in Pakistan will now be able to bring their spouses to the country. The institution is expected to release an official notification next month.

Meanwhile, the ADB officials have said that the approval of a bailout package from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in July would help improve Pakistan’s global reputation.
Previously, the United Nations (UN) had reclassified Islamabad as a family station for its international staff.

According to the official notification, the UN’s policy discontinuing Islamabad’s status as a ‘Non-family Duty Station’ (NFDS) went into effect on June 14.
