Islamabad: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) gave a nod to emergency assistance of USD 5 million for women-led livelihoods to meet basic household needs and climate-resilient seeds for staple crop cultivation, a news source reported on February 21.

As per the details, the ADB financing will help rural farm households in the four districts of Nasirabad division – the most flood-affected division in the province. Under the aid, 60,000 households will be provided climate-resilient rice seeds.

The news source mentioned that the financing will be provided by the Japan Fund for Prosperous and Resilient Asia and the Pacific. It was shared that the women from targeted farm households will be provided durable farming tool kits to help them in farming activities. Reportedly, the additional financing will also take measures for strengthening community resilience against natural hazards.
