Lahore: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a loan of USD 200 million for the first phase of the Punjab Intermediate Cities Improvement Investment Programme (PICIIP), a news source reported. The ADB also plans to provide another USD 250 million for the second phase of PICIIP.
PICIIP is a programme aimed towards the improvement of civic facilities including solid waste management in several cities of Punjab. During the first phase, work will be done in Sialkot and Sahiwal. The total cost of the first phase is USD 250 million, of which USD 200 million will be provided by ADB, while the remaining will be provided by the government.
The second phase will support the work in Sargodha, Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalpur, and Muzaffargarh, for which ADB will provide another USD 300 million, while the government will provide USD 75 million.
