Islamabad: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved USD 0.2 million for Pakistan under the Second Power Transmission Enhancement Investment Program, news sources reported on December 28.

The assistance has been approved to support the implementation of the fourth tranche of the multi-tranche financing facility (MFF) and will address the limited participation of women in technical and leadership positions in the National Transmission and Despatch Company (NDTC). As per the ADB circular, the assistance will promote a workplace environment with equal opportunities for recruitment, skill development, and professional advancement of female personnel.

Under the program, these reformative policies will require gender diagnostics, community consultations, and personnel training, women in communities around NDTC areas of operation, and female students of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
