Islamabad: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has decided to take stern action against private housing societies which aren’t following the Authority’s regulations and bylaws, according to a news report. A week ago, the Building Control Directorate-II of the CDA, in compliance with court orders had warned private housing societies to give details of their legal position within the next seven days.
The CDA is of the view that these housing societies have self-approved all building plans and issued occupancy and said that if they failed to give proof within the stipulated time, strict measures would be taken against them. The Islamabad High Court took note of this last week and asked the CDA to visit all housing societies in the capital in order to verify the credentials of utility plots, service areas, and parking lots there. This is primarily because under the CDA No Objection Certificate (NOC) granted, the area belongs to the Authority.
To correct the situation, the IHC has directed the CDA building control director and private housing societies’ director to issue a warning notice to all private housing societies in the city and their executive bodies to comply with the CDA’s bylaws.
