Rawalpindi: The Rawalpindi Cantonment Board (RCB) has decided to take action against tenants utilising leased residential units for commercial activities – a news source reported.
The decision was made during a meeting, presided over by Station Commander Brigadier Shahzad Tanveer. RCB Cantonment Executive Officer Sabtain Raza and other officials concerned were also present.

The tenants will be given notices to end commercial activities within a month’s timeframe. An operation against violators will be launched after the expiry of the notice period.
RCB has been receiving complaints of increased commercial activities in the city’s Cantonment area. Several individuals have set up businesses on leased-out land. Many schools, salons, offices, and stores have been established in the area.

Residents often have to face several hours-long traffic jams due to these commercial activities. The situation has also resulted in security issues in areas such as Afshan Colony, Mughal Abad, and People’s Colony.
