Rawalpindi: A team comprising of officials from the Anti Corruption Establishment (ACE) has been formed, in order to investigate illegal housing societies constructed in the outskirts of Rawalpindi – a news source reported. As per the publication, the task to weed out unlawful residential schemes was delegated by the new ACE Director of Anti-Corruption — on the directions of the ACE Director General.

According to the details provided, ACE had received complaints of several illegal housing societies on the outskirts of Rawalpindi that were being used to defraud money out of the public. This prompted the government authority to finally launch a crackdown against these unlawful housing schemes.

The teams formed are expected to be led by ACE Deputy Director Investigation and have been tasked to investigate the matter further. They have been assigned to identify the illegal housing societies in question, along with the names of their owners — who will be charged with a number of offences including illegal possession of property and printing of fake agreements, maps and brochures.
