Gujrat: At least four illegal commercial buildings, including three banquet halls, were sealed by the Anti-Corruption Establishment’s Rawalpindi regional director; a news source reported. The buildings were located in Dina city of Jhelum district.
The Rawalpindi Municipal Corporation (RMC) had earlier asked owners of the concerned commercial buildings to submit their civic body-approved building plans.
The authority recently came up with the plan in its bid to take action against illegal buildings constructed before 2001. The records, however, were found to be too fragile to be adequately scrutinized; having been damaged during the 2001 floods in the garrison city.

The deputy commissioner had earlier directed RMC to utilize the basements of shopping centers for parking space. But so far, the corporation has found it difficult to take action against the pre-2001 building structures.
