Karachi: Association of Builder and Developers (ABAD) Chairman Mohsin Seikhani on Wednesday announced the construction of 500,000 new affordable houses in four major cities of Pakistan over the duration of the next two years, according to news sources.

These low-cost houses will be constructed in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad and Hyderabad. The chairman revealed that the association has already finished its market study and has also acquired land for the project. He said that the construction will be soon be launched and would be completed in two years.

Seikhani further said that the houses will be made available in two different categories for low-income groups with rates of PKR 2.4 and PKR 3 million – in a bid to provide quality residences in the major cities to those on a small budget. He said that the construction of these houses will create employment opportunities for the unemployed and boost commercial and industrial activity in the country.
He lauded the government’s recently announced relief package for the construction sector and said that it will improve Pakistan’s economic growth by boosting construction activity and in turn fuel nearly 70 associated industries.
