Karachi: The Association of Builders and Developers (ABAD) has advised the government to develop new cities – a news source reported.
ABAD has said that Karachi is facing a housing crisis due to excessive population growth. It asked the government to set up a single authority instead of MDA, KDA and LDA.
It said the government should facilitate one-window operations to streamline paperwork. The members also expressed concerns over the unplanned growth of the metropolis.

Senior Vice Chairman Anwar Dawood stated that it was ABAD that had earlier recommended the construction of five million homes. He added that the government should devise plans instead of only using force.
The association said that it is currently working with the federal government in the city’s slum areas. A master plan has been prepared regarding the utilisation of 32 acres of land in Pakistan Quarters.
ABAD has given suggestions to the government with regard to low-cost homes. Vice Chairman Abdul Kareem said that Karachi’s population has exceeded 30 million. By 2025, the port city will no longer remain liveable.
