Karachi: The Association of Builders and Developers of Pakistan (ABAD) and Military Lands and Cantonments (ML&C) Karachi on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate on boosting construction activity in the city — a news source reported. The MoU was signed by ABAD Chairman Mohsin Sheikhani and ML&C Karachi Region Director Adil Rafi Siddiqui.

Speaking on the occasion, ML&C Director General Maj-Gen Syed Hasnat Amir revealed that with assistance from the ABAD, the ML&C had launched a one-window facility and had unified building bylaws for the Karachi region that would become effective on August 14.
The bylaws have been prepared in accordance with ABAD’s recommendations — with the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA) and the Lahore Development Authority (LDA)’s bylaws having been used as the base-line.

ABAD Chairman Sheikhani also addressed the attendees and stated that every country around the world gave due attention to the construction sector because it generates thousands of jobs and helps the country’s GDP grow. He noted that with the returning boom in the construction industry, more than 70 allied industries had resumed their high activity as well.
