Karachi: Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan has given permission, in principle, to Association of Builders & Developers to construct high-rise buildings in 5 major cities of the country – a news source reported on November 17. The summary on the matter has now been dispatched to the federal cabinet for formal approval.

This was revealed by Former ABAD Chairman and Chairman for Committee on High Rise Buildings Hassan Bakshi. He added that the matter had been raised before the PM in a meeting by a delegation of the developers. The premier, in turn, had assured the developers that the permission to construct buildings higher than 300 feet will be given soon.

After formal approval by the federal cabinet, the builder will be able to construct high-rise buildings in Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, and Peshawar. Moreover, no additional permission will be required from Civil Aviation Authority or Pakistan Air Force. Both the institutes have submitted their reports on the matter and any building will be allowed as long as it is 6 kilometres away from the airport.
