Gujranwala: The Aab-e-Pakistan Authority has been formally inaugurated for the provision of potable water to the division — a news source reported on June 26. Further, a 24-member committee has been established in the city to oversee its operations.

The committee will be led by Commissioner Gujranwala Division Rizwan Mustafa Sian — with the deputy commissioners of Gujranwala’s six districts also expected to be part of the initiative. In addition, the Punjab government has further issued a notification nominating major industrialists, Gujranwala Chambers officeholders, and government officials as members of the committee.
As per the instructions issued by the provincial government, the committee will work to provide potable water to the six districts of Gujranwala: These include Gujranwala, Gujrat, Sialkot, Mandi Bahauddin, Hafizabad, and Narowal. It will also ensure that filtration plants are installed where needed.

According to the report, the citizens welcomed the establishment of the authority in the province, and appreciated the steps taken by the government in this regard.
