Hyderabad: On orders of Hyderabad Commissioner Muhammad Abbas Baloch, issued via official notification on Thursday (June 18), smart lockdown has been imposed in 91 areas identified as COVID-19 hotspots in the city, a news source reported. Following orders, the concerned officials enforced smart lockdown on Friday (July 19).

The areas to go under smart lockdown in Hyderabad include the following:
- Mir Hassanabad Colony in Latifabad
- Adjoining areas of Noor Masjid in Qasimabad
- GOR Colony in Samara Colony Unit 6
- Gul Latif Colony
- Mubarak Colony and Kalhora Colony in Hyderabad City
- Kachi abadis in the surroundings of Giddu Chowk
- Gulshan-e-Mehran Phase II
- Railway Colony
- Memon Society
- Nasim Nagar Phase I, Phase II, Phase III
- Shidi Goth
- GM Nagar
- Poly Technic Colony
- Jogi Goth
The notification states that exit and entry points in the hotspots will remained sealed from Friday, 9 AM onwards for two weeks. Under this smart lockdown, a total of 216,977 people in Hyderabad will be made to isolate themselves in their houses.

Furthermore, the notification mentions that all shopping malls, markets, private and public offices and restaurants in the hotspots will remain shut. Businesses related to water supply, petrol pumps, general stores, tandoors, and food items will be allowed to operate between 7 AM and 2 PM, while medical stores and pharmacies will remain open 24 hours a day.
