Islamabad: Pakistani and Chinese officials will meet in Beijing tomorrow to kick off the 8th meeting of the Joint Coordination Committee (JCC), a news source reported. JCC is the apex decision-making body on China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Reform Makhdoom Khusro Bakhtiar will head the Pakistani delegation that would also include chief ministers of the four provinces and Gilgi-Baltistan as well as prime minister of AJK among others.
The two sides are scheduled to sign important agreements regarding Pak-China Friendship Hospital in Gwadar, Technical and Vocational Institute, Gwadar International Airport as well as finalise a schedule for the groundbreaking of Rashakai Economic Zone.
Islamabad would also push China to release funds for the construction of Western Route, besides seeking financial assistance for KKH Thakot-Raikot (remaining portion) and upgradation of DI Khan-Zhob (Phase-1) project.
Other proposed deliverables include discussion on ML-1 road map, discussion on Rail based Mass Transit projects (KCR, Greater Peshawar Region Mass transit, Quetta Mass Transit), and five-year action plan on technical cooperation on Highways between Pakistan and China (2018-22).
