Lahore: The Punjab Cooperatives Department has retrieved a total of 650 kanals of state land from encroachers during the past six months, a news source quoted Provincial Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs Baharat Raja as saying.
He stated that Prime Minister (PM) Imran Khan had previously issued directives to the officials concerned to recover government land from the local land mafia. He added that the process was still underway.

The minister said that a transparent auction would be conducted on a timely basis in order to repatriate this government-owned land to the consumer market; adding that the funds generated will be submitted to the national treasury.

The minister expressed his views on the matter during a meeting of the special committee on Punjab Cooperatives Liquidation Board. Cooperatives Minister Mahr Muhammad Aslam Bharwana, Additional Chief Secretary Shaukat Ali and other officials concerned were all present at the occasion.
