Reportedly, during a question and answer session in assembly, the minister said the government has completed 116 small dams in various districts. The remaining 64 dams will be completed by next year, ensuring enough water capacity for domestic and agricultural use. He said that the government is also interested in releasing fresh water downstream into the Kotri Barrage to halt seawater intrusion into arable land that has already damaged a vast area.

It is important to mention that Sindh has recently faced severe drought-like conditions and a lowering of underground water levels. The province has launched several projects in collaboration with the federal government and international donors like the World Bank (WB) to carry out the projects to address water scarcity. This also includes projects like the Karachi-IV (K-IV) water channel.
