Gujranwala: As many as 500 individuals and private organisations have been asked to pay their taxes, a news source reported. The Punjab Revenue Authority warning that a crackdown will be carried out against those who do not file their returns till December 31.
They include property dealers, goods transporters, auto workshops, town planners, town developers, car dealers, ceramics and marble factory owners, salons, travel agencies, lawyers, doctors, private hospitals, and marriage halls.
The Gujranwala division had earlier this year set its tax recovery target at PKR 2.5 billion, which is 250 times higher than that of the previous year. A crackdown against defaulters will begin on January 1.
According to the government orders, defaulters will have their properties and immovable assets will be seized. Arrests will also be carried out in this regard.
