Islamabad: Fifty acres of land is available in Sector-17 for a waste power plant in Islamabad, according to a news source. The Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad (MCI) have planned to set up a power plant that uses garbage as fuel. This will serve the dual purpose of producing electricity and reducing the issue of garbage disposal in Islamabad.
Such plans are primarily a waste management facility. They combust waste to produce electricity. Chinese companies have expressed the desire to help set up such a project. The plan will burn around 1,000 tonnes of garbage and produce 10 megawatts of electricity.
