Rawalpindi: In the continuation of an operation against car wash centres wasting water, the Water and Sanitation Agency (WASA) sealed 42 of them in the city, according to a news report. 26 of these centres were shut down on the second day, while the rest had been sealed in the first day of the operation. Action was taken against these stations as they had refused to obey the directives to install water recycling plants.
These centres, out of a total of 105 in the area, did not abide by the rules laid down for them, so action was taken against them. These water conservation measures have been deemed crucial for Pakistan, especially due to the looming water crisis in the country. December 15 was the deadline given by WASA to these car wash centres to install water recycling plants. This operation was carried out in Pirwadhai, Zia Colony, Bangash Colony, I.J Principal Road, Boring Road, Dhoke Hassu, Dhoke Mangtal, and other areas under the supervision of Director Revenue Amir Ashfaq.
