Lahore: The Punjab Information Ministry and the Ravi Development and Dwelling Authority (RDDA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to facilitate land transfer for 3,200 housing plots dedicated to journalists in Lahore. This initiative marks a significant step in fulfilling the Punjab government’s commitment to supporting the media community.

The MoU was signed by Secretary Information Tahirza Hamdani and RDDA CEO Imran Amin during a ceremony attended by Punjab spokesperson Azma Bokhari, Lahore Press Club (LPC) President Arshad Ansari, and other prominent figures.
Azma Bokhari assured that the allocation process would be conducted with full transparency. Forms for council members will be available at the LPC, while non-council members can obtain them through the Directorate General Public Relations (DGPR). Merit certificates will solely determine eligibility, with no allowance for recommendations.
In addition to this development, Bokhari announced that Phase II of the Journalist Housing Scheme is nearing completion, further advancing efforts to provide housing for journalists. The issue regarding F-Block in the LPC housing society has also been resolved under the directive of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, ensuring smoother implementation.

This is the first time in Punjab’s history that a housing initiative of this scale has been launched for journalists, highlighting the government’s dedication to improving the welfare of the media community.
