Peshawar: Development work on 31 Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations has entered its final stages, reported a news source. The project, set for inauguration in February, will benefit 4 million people on a daily basis.
The process to transfer 220 modern buses to Peshawar in various phases will also begin soon. Meanwhile, rehabilitation work on roads affected by BRT has also started. This comes in addition to the work being done to connect various service roads with the GT Road.
To inspect progress of BRT, a team representing Asian Development will visit Peshawar next week. Reportedly, modern machinery is being used to complete the project on time, and in-line with the committed standards. The development work, as communicated, is being carried out 24/7.
According to a BRT spokesperson, the project has seen delays due to various expansions. He also mentioned that special plans were being implemented to aid traffic flow around the BRT site. The provincial government is also prepared for the launch of an international standard transit project.
