Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has provided its approval to the creation of 300 vacancies to establish the province’s first Tourism Police force, a news source reported. The information on this development and details on the number of police officials to be appointed in various districts was shared in the Tourism Department meeting held yesterday (August 17) with KP CM Mehmood Khan in the chair.

According to the official handout released by the department, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Zulfi Bukhari, KP Tourism Secretary Abid Majeed, Tourism Additional Secretary Junaid Khan, Special Secretary to CM Muhammad Khaliq, and other officials concerned attended the meeting.
The meeting members reviewed the projects launched to boost tourism in the province as per the directives issued by PM Imran Khan. They members were also briefed about the deployment of 76 Tourism Police officers in District Swat, 74 in Mansehra, 71 in Abbottabad, 42 in Chitral and 37 in Upper Dir.

As per the details shared, the Tourism Police force will initially be hired from the KP Police department on deputation while constables and other officials will be employed through a recruitment process. This police force will function as a special wing of the KP Tourism Authority.
